Integrated Modelling of Energy Systems

This research project is part of an initiative of the Energy Science Center to develop an integrated modelling platform for assessing future energy systems that cuts across the boundaries of established fields of knowledge by combining existing and new tools from different disciplines. The Nexus Modelling Platform will be used for scenario analysis with the aim of providing a comprehensive technical and economic assessment of current and future energy systems. The developed modelling framework (Nexus platform) will help to answer current and upcoming energy policy questions and to inform energy policy makers. The platform will host a reference implementation of an integrated top-down and bottom-up model (the Nexus Energy Systems Model) which later on will host other developed modelling tools from either ETH Zurich, other research institutions or industry partners.
