Work Package 2 (2019)
There is growing agreement in science and politics that efficiency measures alone won’t be effective enough to reach the energy transition goals. This project “Sufficiency in daily life – Linking the individual with the social opportunity space” focuses on the sufficiency side by addressing the change of energy-related individual consumption in terms of behaviorally induced changes, i.e. sufficiency measures. The project is based on the idea of “situated individual”, i.e. that the individual and its attitudes are embedded in social contexts (Burger et al. forthcoming). According to this perspective, change of energy-related individual consumption behavior will encompass factors within the individual as well as the social opportunity spaces. The project`s focus is on households within “Quartiere” emphasizing the relationship between individual and social aspects of the change of energy-related behavior. The project is part of a broader research agenda “Change of Individual Energy Consumption Patterns” carried out in SCCER CREST.
