Description
The dataset has been created specifically to study rebound effects in space heating. It also includes questions regarding private mobility, electricity consumption, spending patterns, socio-economic variables and green attitude. Data come from a survey carried out in September 2015 with 3,555 respondents, representative of the Swiss population (excluding Ticino). Key questions of the survey regarding the direct RE were asked using scenarios valid for owners and tenants. The scenarios simulated an improvement in the efficiency of their heating system. Three scenarios were proposed to each respondent: 1) with a small improvement in efficiency: their system was randomly more efficient by 10, 15 or 20%; 2) with a large improvement: randomly more efficient by 40, 50 or 60%; 3) with a medium improvement and a CO2 neutral technology: randomly more efficient by 25 or 30%. After the presentation of the scenario, we asked whether the respondents would modify their heating habits following that change in efficiency, and if yes by how much.
