Work Stream 1

Work Stream 1 focuses on stakeholders and governance structures, including cantonal and national legislation as well as non-legal governance structures. It will identify typical conflicts of interest and how they are handled under current governance structures. Thereby it will provide information and recommendations as to which aspects of the governance framework (including legislation) could be enhanced to reduce conflicts or to facilitate a better conflict resolution.

The leading research questions are:
1. What are the relevant stakeholders for the selected HP and DGE projects, their interests and which possible conflicts of interest can arise?
2. Which governance structure could facilitate the solution of these conflicts of interest and thereby increase the acceptance of the projects?

Taking a general perspective, research in WS1 covers the optimization of the governance structure with both a short term perspective on adapting given structures to specific challenges and a long term perspective on possible changes to the structure.
