Work Stream 2

Work Stream 2 focuses on public opinion and public discourses regarding DGE and HP as well as on public engagement procedures. It will provide information as to how socio-political barriers can be identified early on in project development and how public engagement procedures can be used to avoid unnecessary frictions. In addition, it focuses on the stakeholders’ acceptability of HP and DGE projects and on public engagement and discourse to reduce frictions in project development. While WS1 will take a more general perspective, WS2 will focus strongly on the specific cases provided by the selected P+D projects.

In WS2, two research questions will be addressed:
1. What are determinants that shape the acceptability of HP and DGE projects?
2. Which of these determinants are most relevant for the acceptability of DGE/HP expansion in Switzerland?

To address these questions, WS2 will develop a systematically informed framework for assessing socio-political determinants of public acceptability. These include public discourses, public perceptions and repre-sentations of HP and DGE as well as public engagement processes.
